Buffalo High School Salad BarThe salad bar was given to the Buffalo High School and was paid for by $4700.00 from the Healthy Active Communities Grant and $500.00 from the Chronic Disease Primary Prevention Grant. (The school was only left with $100.00 to $200.00 to cover themselves.) The school opened the salad bar May 12, 2006 for a trial run. There were 285 lunches sold that day at the high school and 125 of them were salad bar. (The pictures are from May 12, 2006 the trial run.) For the 2006-2007 school year the salad bar ahs been up and running almost everyday. Mike Culp, Food Service Director, reports that about 50-75 salad bar purchases are made daily. He also reported that last year he sold around 300 lunches daily at the high school and this year he is selling close to 400 daily at the high school. He believes the increase is due to the salad bar. |
