Response Plan for Disasters, Public Health Emergencies, and Pandemics

Local Public Health Emergency Plan
Annex H - Mass Prophylaxis Plan
II - Scope

These guidelines address the distribution of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Program. The SNS includes the 12-Hour Push Packages and the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) asset, which can provide prophylaxis treatment to large numbers of asymptomatic community residents and other affected persons. Each of the 12-Hour Push Packages (12) contain 50 tons of medical material including pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and medical equipment which stand ready for immediate deployment to the needed community. VMI materials can be deployed if a specific threat agent is known or if additional supplies are needed to supplement the 12-Hour Push Package materials.
