Health Education  
Education is the first step in prevention.

Working with community partners to address health issues in Dallas County is a primary component of the job of Health Educator.  
With funding from the Healthy Active Community grant we have been able to focus on several different priority areas.  
Good Nutrition, Physical Activity and Tobacco Cessation  
Dallas County Shape Up is a bi-annual event that has participants track a variety of factors such as weight, fruit and vegetable consumption and amount of physical activity  
Free exercise classes every Tuesday at 9:30am at the DAV building (1100 N Maple, Buffalo) for any age  
Smokebusters is a program involving youth in tobacco education.  The focus is to empower youth to take action to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.  
With funding from MFFH and the CDPP program, we were able to provide Buffalo High School with a Salad Bar (pictures) and a milk machine for students  
We have been able to funded improvements to the Buffalo City Park walking trail and swimming pool  
Playground equipment for both Buffalo and Urbana city parks  
Sports equipment for elementary schools
